CSU is a land-grant research university that was founded in 1870 in Fort Collins. The city is part of the North Central Colorado Urban Area that includes Denver and is located at the base of the Front Range of the southern Rocky Mountains. The Front Range is known for mountain biking, hiking, climbing, camping in summer and for skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing during the winter months.
